Santa Fe Rail Trail

The Rail Trail is a Santa Fe favorite. The trails runs parallel to the Santa Fe Railroad track lines and will take a rider from downtown Santa Fe to Eldorado or Lamy.

From Singletracks.com:
The rideis a very doable out-and-back, relatively flat mix of dirt singletrack, doubletrack, and a few gravel and rocky sections. It is very rideable for all experience levels, and follows an infrequently used railroad line, crossing back and forth over it a few times. There are many splits in the trail, but they are never more than .1 miles or so, and are either the same difficulty or very obviously up a steep hill and back down. A mountain bike is recommended, but you could get away with riding a cyclocross bike.

Ride Time:
Approximately 4 - 6 hrs

Best Time of Year: spring & fall

Coffee and Birds

Coffee and Birds is a great ride for a beginner or anyone that wants to take it easy. Start with a leisurely coffee and follow a paved and dirt road to the lovely Randall Davey Audubon Center & Sanctuary located at Upper Canyon Road. The route is mostly paved and traffic moves relatively slowly. Watch some of the blind corners on upper canyon.

The Randall Davey Audubon Center & Sanctuary encompasses 135 acres of striking landscapes and wildlife. Bounded by thousands of acres of National Forest and Santa Fe River Watershed land, the Center and Sanctuary provides a peaceful sanctuary for plants, animals and our visitors. Ranging from common to rare, approximately 130 species of birds can be found in or over the various ecosystems of this sanctuary. The center is currently open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
